About
The Disney Parade (La Parade Disney) was the very first parade to debut at EuroDisneyland in 1992 welcoming Disney Characters to their new home in Europe. The parade first appeared ahead of the official park opening on 25th March 1992 with soft openings for media events leading up to the Grand Opening on 12th April 1992.
This brand new parade featured unique floats and colourful Characters celebrating the classics and newer films such as Beauty and the Beast which opened in cinemas that same year. The opening floats showed Characters flying into the new resort in airplane floats and Mickey in his zeppelin plane leading the way.
Other floats included one dedicated to Sleeping Beauty depicting the colours of the new castle in Paris where Maleficent rose from the central turret as the parade moved along. This was followed by another float featuring Maleficent but this time in her dragon form as Prince Philip battles against her powers. This was one of the original fire breathing dragon floats to debut in a Disney Park. Many Characters were seen walking along the parade route interacting with Guests which was evident in the Jungle Book and Dumbo sections of the parade. The finale saw Benny the Taxi taking Roger Rabbit and a very rare sighting of Eddie Valiant on a zany spin.
The soundtrack featured an instrumental mix of "When you wish upon a star" and "zipadeedoodah" interspersed with each floats own soundtrack. The parade ran until March 1994 when some of the floats were retired and others moved to the reworked Disney Classics Parade.
