For Disney California Adventure’s 25th anniversary in 2026, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse surprised Disneyland Resort Magic Key holders with a retro come back for the 2001 Sunshine Plaza outfits, refreshed for the anniversary. The updated outfits retain the bright, vacation California style of the early 2000s with some minor color changes to Minnie's shorts from light blue to navy blue, and her t-shirt from light pink to orange. Mickey's outfit stayed true to the original 2001 outfit. Mickey and Minnie regularly greeted guests in Sunshine Plaza prior to the land’s closure on August 29, 2011, ahead of its transformation into Buena Vista Street. Reintroduced exclusively for Magic Key holders in 2026, the refreshed Sunshine Plaza outfits celebrate Disney California Adventure’s history giveing a throwback to commemorate this 25th anniversary milestone.
