DLP - Sleeping Beauty CastleDLP - Disneyland Paris
The icon, the weenie of Disneyland Park: Sleeping Beauty's Castle or Le Chateau de la Belle au Bois Dormant!
This is Aurora's home and for some the most beautiful castle of all Disney Parks. It was the first castle that wasn't a copy of the US counterparts. The Imagineers wanted to make a unique building because France was the land of the castles. This Disney castle had to be different from what the Europeans could see closer to home. So they decided to build the most fairytale one ever made.
Sleeping Beauty's Castle was based on what the Imagineers saw in Europe. It was inspired by the spiraling way of the Mont Saint Michel, but also on different French castles.
After taking some dozen pictures of this beauty, it's time to go inside and explore the castle. If you enter, you can choose to visit the two shops or go upstairs for an original retelling of the story of Sleeping Beauty, made by beautiful tapestries and stained-glass windows.
The two shops inside the castle are 'La Boutique du Château' (where you can find some special Christmas gifts) and 'Merlin, l'Enchanteur'. In the last shop you find amazing figurines, and you even can see how new glass statues are made right before your eyes.
Do you hear that strange sound? Find the hidden door in the shop and go downstairs. Merlin hid here his most precious secret: a dragon! He found the dragon egg and hid it under the castle, where it grew to become a big smoke breathing dragon, but don't worry: you're save to pay him a visit!
From this castle, your adventure into the world of Fantasy starts! You are ready to visit Peter Pan, Alice, Snow White and all your favorite Disney heroes! It will be visit you will remember forever!
