Joe Gardner is a band teacher at middle school whose life hasn’t gone the way he had hoped and expected in Disney Pixar’s Soul. His true passion is playing jazz, and although he’s really good at it and believes he was born to be a professional piano player, at the age of 46 he still hasn’t landed a high-profile gig. Joe even has an encyclopedic knowledge of jazz history. He doesn’t have much of a social life, but he immerses himself in his biggest passion and keeps on dreaming about performing on big stages. When he accidentally fell down a manhole, he ends up in the cosmic realms where he has to think about what life is about.
