Pepita is the beautiful and imposing Alebrije in Disney Pixar’s Coco. She functions as the spiritual guide for Imelda Rivera, the former matriarch of the Rivera family, and is also a guide-protector of the whole Rivera family. When she visits Santa Cecilia in the land of the living, where the family lives, she appears as a common house cat, but in the Land of the Dead, Pepita has a fiercer appearance. Her body is a cross between several strong animals, and she has multiple predatorial features. Pepita has impressive tracking skills and can fly. Imelda’s “iron lady” personality is reflected in Pepita’s protective nature. Pepita’s known visits to Disney parks are rare, but nobody knows how many parks she has visited as a common cat!
