Red Panda Mei

Background

Meilin “Mei” Lee is the 13-year-old student from Disney’s Turning Red. She’s an intelligent student who enjoys going to school and learning, especially math. Mei finds herself torn between being the dutiful daughter she has always been and all the feelings and chaos that have come with adolescence. Whenever her emotions take over, she has the ability to transform into a giant red panda after a brief explosion, or poof, of pink smoke of which the size is related to the intensity of her emotions. Mei has always been a passionate and carefree child, but she became more cautious about her actions as she’s now afraid to unleash the red panda in her. Fortunately, Mei can change herself back by calming down.

Interaction Tips

+
  • Mei used to be an extrovert, so talk freely with her about happy things (just don’t make her too excited or she could transform into the giant panda).
  • You can talk about your school experiences with Mei as she loves going to school.
  • Avoid mentioning her ability to turn into a red panda, she’s really embarrassed by this.
  • Compliment Mei on her intelligence to boost her confidence.

Photo Tips
