Peg Leg Pete first appeared three years before Mickey Mouse in 1925 and was the first villain created by Walt Disney’s studio. Pete is a cat and the arch-nemesis of Mickey Mouse. He appeared in Mickey’s first cartoon Steamboat Willie and is featured in many more stories since then. He is a thug, brutish criminal and loud-mouthed bully with a short temper. Pete has a deep voice, which matches his authoritative character perfectly. He is also overconfident. Nevertheless, Pete also has a softer side and is sometimes romantically attracted to Minnie Mouse. Up until now, Pete is still the main antagonist of Mickey Mouse but after many years Pete has finally made it back to Disney Parks and Toontown at Disneyland following the reimagining of the land which opened in March 2023.
